BIKE LIFE
BikeLife! This yearly Hartford festival for youth ages 5-19 is broken into two parts: Five 2-hour bicycle safety courses held during Spring Break week followed by the BIKELIFE festival on Saturday.
The five bicycle safety courses are strategically located around Hartford to reach as many youth as possible. In order to qualify for a bicycle at the Saturday BikeLife Festival, each youth must register and take one of the safety classes.
On the big festival day youth that have completed one of the bicycle safety courses will come together and get an up-cycled bike, helmet, lights, and bike lock. Volunteers help with a whole array of activities from check-in, to bicycle matching, and installing lights on the bikes.
