Membership

The Fall-Winter 17/18 membership and renewal campaign is on!

  • What are the funds for? – The 2017/18 annual membership campaign and fundraiser is focused on funding the renovations and the service capacity of BiCi Co. to provide programs to youth and Hartford community members. With the expansion of the BiCi Co community room, we have the opportunity to serve many more people in the community with knowledge and experience on bike repairs and riding safety.
  • How Much Raised? – Our goal is to raise $5,000 by February 19th. If you have not already, please consider joining as a member right now or making a financial contribution.
  • How many members does BiCi Co. have right now? – Good question! BiCi Co has nearly double in both categories of Paid and Equity memberships. At the end of 2016, there were 48 Paid Members, 43 Equity Members. In November 2017, we have 80 Paid Members and 101 Equity Members,
  • Expiring Memberships – 43 Expired/ing Members.  We’d love to renew those expired/ing memberships (paid and equity) in before we close 2017.

Welcome! Thank you for joining an amazing community organization dedicated to empowering Hartford to ride bicycles — for transportation and for fun.

This isn’t a typical bike shop. BiCi Co. is a membership organization, with benefits and access provided to members. Full details are here, but the gist is this: by becoming a member, you gain access to a full-service bike shop stocked with parts available for purchase at cost (No mark-up: we’re a non-profit).

That means you can visit during our twice-weekly DIY shop hours, where volunteers will help you learn how to maintain your own bicycle. You also get access to seminars teaching specific skills, among other perks.

There are two different ways to become a member.

1. Pay the membership fee. To become a paying member, go here!

There are four options:

  • Individual membership, one year: $100 (and renew for $80 during the annual campaign)
  • Family membership, one year: $160
  • Individual membership, five years: $400
  • Individual membership, lifetime: $1,000

2. Become an equity member – Alternative available for those with limited income

Individuals can earn a BiCi Co. annual membership by volunteering 10 hours in the shop. Volunteers do not need to have any bike repair skills. For more details and to become an equity member, visit the shop during DIY hours:
