Join an amazing community organization dedicated to empowering Hartford to ride bicycles — for transportation and for fun.
This isn’t a typical bike shop. BiCi Co. is a membership organization, with benefits and access provided to members. By becoming a member, you gain access to a full-service bike shop stocked with new and used parts.

That means you can visit during our twice-weekly DIY shop hours, where our mechanic or a volunteer will help you learn how to maintain your own bicycle. You also get access to seminars teaching specific skills, among other perks.
Membership Benefits
Member Discounts
Multiple BiCi Member Discounts:
- 10% discount on upcycled bicycles, parts, accessories, and repair services at BiCi Co.
- 5% discount on new bicycle purchases
- Bicycle rentals are only $5 / day for BiCi Co. Members (the non-member rental rate is $20 / day). Call (860-269-0004) or email the shop to reserve your rental.

Build-a-Bike
BiCi Co. members have access to the BiCi Co. inventory of used bicycles that are available to repair and tune-up as a personal bicycle. Members that “Build-a-Bike” are charged half the cost of the finished tuned up bicycle, since they put in their own labor. New parts used in a “Build-a-Bike” projects are additional, but discounted for members.
Membership Hours
Weekly scheduled hours for members to come in and work on their own bicycle, or a friend’s bicycle. You can also come in to hang out or shadow an experienced bike mechanic. During member hours the work stands, tools, and experienced mechanics (and other members) will enable hands-on learning and DIY bicycle maintenance. Sign up here for DIY Member Hours
Bicycle Safety Courses
BiCi Co. offers periodic bicycle safety, skills, and special topic courses. Members can attend these courses at a discounted member rate. BiCi Co. has multiple certified League Cycling Instructors on staff and as volunteers. Stay tuned to the BiCi Co. Facebook page and email newsletter for course announcements.
Building Your Network & Connecting to Community
BiCi Co. Membership increases your connections with other bicycle and active transportation/transit advocates in the Metro Hartford area. In addition to the nuts and bolts, bicycles build our personal community connections.

Basic DIY Membership: $50 / year or 15hrs Equity Volunteering Hours
- Access to the BiCi Co Mechanic Space during scheduled DIY member hours
- No discount on parts, service, purchases, or rentals
Individual DIY + Discount Membership: $100 / year
- Access to the BiCi Co Mechanic Space during scheduled DIY member hours
- 10% Discount on upcycled bicycles, parts, and service
- Discounts on classes and workshops
- Discounts on bicycle rentals
Family DIY + Discount Membership: $160 / year
- BiCi Co. discounts for your immediate family. And you can attend BiCi Co. DIY hours with family members, spouse, or household partner.
