Earn-a-Bike, Mechanic Nights, and Walking About

Bicycle Loving Friends – If you need a reason to get out and enjoy life in what can sometimes be a bleak month, we  have you covered at BiCi Co.  Don’t leave your friends out of the loop.  Invite and share!

• Friday, February 10th – IceBike/Walk/Bus to Work Meetups.  7-9am at Sarah’s Coffee House in Hartford with additional meetups planned in East Hartford, West Hartford, and even Middletown.
• Sunday, February 12th – Walk Hartford, Take Flight(s) – Meeting at 2:30pm at the Colt Statue in Colt Park just off Wethersfield Ave.  A group will stroll around the South Meadows.  Stops will occur at Hanging Hills Brewery and the Flying Monkey Grill.  I expect that while walking the group will talk about sidewalks, bike lanes, and riverfront connections – among other things.
• Thursdays in February – Mechanic Nights at BiCi Co. – In addition to our regular DIY Member Hours we will have Mechanics Night from 5:30-8:30pm to make progress on the up-cycled bicycles for the April BIKELIFE program.  February 2nd, 9th, and 16th.  Adults only, BYO refreshments.
• Friday, February 15th – Hartford Streets Happy Hour.  5:30-7:30pm at 50 Elm Cafe and Spirits in Hartford (near the Circle of Death rotary).  Come hang out and discuss Hartford’s transportation and built environment in a casual, fun setting.
• Thursday, February 23rd, Kickoff Meeting for Teen Earn-a-Bike – This meeting will kick off our seven week Earn-a-Bike program for teens age 13-19.  We will also be introducing the Hartford Major Taylor Ride Club / Race Team that starts later in the spring.  Register your teen now (860-247-3227, bici_co@ctprf.org, space is limited for this program.
• Register Now – April 9th, Bicycle Safety / Traffic Skills 101 – This full day, comprehensive course will change your life.

Are you interested in volunteering with Earn-a-Bike?  – We need adult with basic bicycle mechanic skills to help out with the teen Earn-a-Bike meetings once they get down into the workshop.  Even if you can only attend a couple of the meetings, we could use your help.  Thursdays 5:00-7:00pm starting on March 2nd, and one other day/time during the week.  Contact us (860-247-3227, bici_co@ctprf.org) if you would like to sign up or get more information.
