Volunteers Needed for CXNATS, Jan 2nd to Jan 8th
Hartford is hosting the Cyclocross National Championships
BiCi Co. Needs Volunteers!
We need your smiling faces at BiCi Co. to ramp up the DIY workshop hours during the full week of races. The shop will be open from 11am-7pm on Monday, January 2nd through Saturday the 7th. Hours will be extended to 8:30pm on Monday (Jan 2nd, Women’s Hours) and Wednesday (Jan 4th). To celebrate #CXNATS race weekend BiCi Co. is hosting an onsite happy hour on Saturday, January 7th from 5:00-8:00pm with a live podcast and pro-racer panel on the 3rd floor and a bicycle art show in the workshop.
BiCi Co. is the only bike workshop within city limits and will stock basic repair parts for last minute fixes and flat tires. Racers and their mechanics will be able to use the workshop stands for bike builds and tear downs ($10/bike). There will be coffee and camaraderie with our fellow lovers of two-wheeled, human power. We are excited to talk bikes with a bunch of new folks. BiCi Co. T-shirts will be on sale for $20 each – limited quantities.
During the BiCi Co. hours there will be one Staff Mechanic on hand (+ volunteer mechanics) to assist racers, mechanics, and community members. We will need someone at the front door to welcome visitors and community members with questions about BiCi Co. The front door position will handle sales and the $10 / bike fee for DIY sessions.
This will be our first week with expanded hours, and volunteer support is critical. When not working with visitors, members, and CX racers our mechanics can get a jump on tuning up bicycles for BIKELIFE in April (photos from April 2016). We’re targeting 100 bicycles and getting an earlier start this year. If any of the CXNATS visitors want to tune up a bike for BIKELIFE, that would be awesome (and we’d waive the $10 work stand fee for your rig)!
