BiCi Co – #WhyIRide Profiles
Khamdi is one of the youth that started with BiCi Co in the Earn-a-Bike program.
He now works for the shop, gaining valuable work experience and income to help off-set the cost of being a teen for his parents.
With Earn-a-Bike kicking off this evening at 5:30. It’s a great moment to recognize one of our youth that’s come up the whole way with us.

“I hope we can be a bigger place and just let the community know about us….more volunteers too. I tell my friends about Bici Co, I tell my teachers too.”
What is your bike? Style, purpose etc?
I have had my bike for 3 months. It’s a mountain bike. [The brand is Roadmaster]. The kind of biking that I do is in the city. It runs nice and smooth and steady because there are a lot of holes in the roads. Some people have special bikes for different activities but I like my mountain bike because it will work on any road. I’ll ride it anywhere. I’ll ride it in the rain.
How did you learn about Bici Co? How did you get involved?
I learned about Bici Co at school one day, they announced that if you were 15-years-old, you could have a job for the summer. I’ve worked here for 2 years now.
Last summer, we didn’t have much space. Nothing was really open. The bikes weren’t even here yet. Step by step, we’ve opened up the shop. Now, people will come [by the shop] and they will be like, “Wow.”
You gotta show customer service. It’s not really even customer service. That’s just how you treat people. My mom taught me that. She taught me a lot of good stuff.
